The cancellation of GDC was a major blow for indie game developers, who depend on occasions like the Indie Megabooth and Day of the Devs to exhibit their new stuff. To help counter that misfortune, Geoff Keighley and Steam are assembling the Steam Game Festival: Spring Edition, which will put a focus on new and upcoming games that missed out on their big chance to shine.
The first-ever Game Festival on Steam occurred in December 2019 related to The Game Awards and gave clients time-limited “first-looking game demos” for over dozen games. The Spring Edition will be an essentially bigger affair, with over 40 games included.
It will be longer, as well: Demos from the first festival were useful for just 48 hours, yet the Steam Game Festival Spring Edition commences at 10 am PT/1 pm ET on March 18 and will run until a similar time on March 23.
