Apple made a wager that by releasing two new MacBook Air laptops with its most recent M3 processors, it would draw in customers who were considering upgrading to personal computers with artificial intelligence capabilities.
According to the company’s website, the new MacBook Air versions are up to 60% faster than the variant with Apple’s M1 CPU and available with 13- and 15-inch screens.
In the US, the base model of the larger MacBook Air costs $1,299, while the smaller model starts at $1,099 as well.
Both are on sale starting on Monday, and delivery are scheduled to start later this week, according to Apple, which has been using its own chip since 2020 following its split from Intel.
The release of AI-enabled PCs is anticipated to contribute to the PC market’s rebound in 2024 following a post-pandemic decline of more than two years.
After falling by a third in the previous quarter, Mac sales increased somewhat to $7.78 billion in the most recent quarter that was released.
