Anna Alimani celebrates legacy at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival

She attended the festival’s premier screening of “Following Harry,” honoring the legacy of late legend Harry Belafonte.

Gracing the much-talked-about film festival, she attended the premier screening of “Following Harry,” a powerful documentary celebrating the life and work of the late legendary American singer and actor Harry Belafonte, whom the world lost last year. Speaking on being there to experience the late actor’s greatness, Anna said, “The film is a poignant exploration of Belafonte’s dedication to social justice. This helped him create a powerful impact on the Black and African American diaspora.”
Adding more, she highlights that Following Harry offers an intimate look at Harry Belafonte, who continued his relentless work for social justice until his unfortunate death in 2023 at 96. As an audience, Anna Alimani experienced a rare glimpse into both his public endeavors and personal and private moments, tracing his journey from the aftermath of Trayvon Martin’s killing to many pivotal locations like Ferguson, Ghana, Florida, and ultimately to New York City, his home.
Anna Alimani’s presence at the film festival and attendance at the screening of the said film were ways to pay tribute to Harry Belafonte. She also mentioned how, as an actor and artist herself, she has always advocated for subjects and scripts that can, in some way, create a positive impact on audiences worldwide. Following the premiere of Following Harry, the festival presented the Harry Belafonte Voices for Social Justice Award featuring Jesse Williams, Aloe Blacc, Aja Monet, Matt Post, Carmen Perez, RodStarz, Sean Pica, and others to celebrate all those who continue to fight for social justice, shared Anna Alimani, who witnessed the celebration of Belafonte’s legacy.
