In order to strengthen the Indian power grid with more renewable energy capacity, tech giant Google has announced two significant agreements in India with Adani and CleanMax.

This action contributes to Google’s 2030 goal of 24/7 carbon-free electricity and is in line with its ambition to decarbonize its cloud services and office operations throughout India.

As part of the partnership with CleanMax, a 125.4MW project is being developed, comprising 59.4MW of wind power in Karnataka and 66MW of solar power in Rajasthan.

It is projected that commercial operations will begin by 2025’s fourth quarter.

The Adani Group and Google’s collaboration will make it easier to purchase energy from a brand-new solar-wind hybrid project.

This project is a part of the world’s largest renewable energy venture, a magnificent 30GW renewable energy plant located near Khavda, Gujarat.

By the third quarter of 2025, Adani projects that this project will be operational.

“This historic initiative supports Google’s sustainable growth in India and underscores Google’s commitment to source clean energy for our operations in every grid where we operate,” said Giorgio Fortunato, head of Google Asia Pacific Clean Energy and Power.

“To continue running our businesses sustainably, we believe in the power of meaningful strategic collaborations to drive true impact and transition to resilient low-carbon systems.”

Tech behemoth Google invested in tax equity in August of this year in Swift Current Energy’s 800MW DC Double Black Diamond Solar project in southern Illinois, US, which has a 593MW AC capacity.

Google’s investment made use of the Inflation Reduction Act’s advantages, which included incentives for domestic content and energy communities.
