On December 19, 2024, Munich-based firm Vaeridion revealed that it has raised €14 million to finance the advancement of their next Microliner aircraft, which will be entirely electric and run on batteries.

By the end of the decade, the Microliner, a traditional takeoff and landing aircraft that can transport nine passengers up to 500 kilometers, should be prepared for operation.

Ivor van Dartel, an Airbus veteran and Dutch aeronautical engineer, created Vaeridion in Munich with the intention of transforming regional air travel.

With cooperation from other investors like Vsquared Ventures, Project A, Sterling Concorde, Schwarz Holding, and InnovationQuarter, the World Fund has spearheaded the latest investment round.

Together with funding obtained through government assistance programs, the extra funds supplement a prior seed round of €3.4 million, bringing Vaeridion’s total fundraising to date above €18 million.

The first general aviation firm to successfully finish a Pre-Application Contract (PAC) with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) was Vaeridion, which did so in November 2024. Through this program, aerospace entrepreneurs can communicate with the European aviation authority early on to de-risk the development hazards of their projects and get clarification on certification requirements.
