What you eat in a day also matters. Believe it or not, it can affect your heart either positively or negatively. The number of heart patients is increasing globally, and the rate is expected to accelerate at a whopping rate by 2030, says a recent study.
There are numerous reasons because of which one can face heart troubles, such as, weight, obesity, diabetes, blood pressure, diet, etc. However, bad food choices or unhealthy diet is primary amongst all.
Most of these risk factors are connected. For instance, cholesterol levels and blood pressure are affected by diet.
According to a renowned Cardiologist Dr. Biprajit Parbat, an individual who follows a healthy diet is least likely to get a heart attack in his/her life. But people who eat unhealthy foods, such as packaged food, fast food, etc., are highly likely to get heart attacks. A high-fiber, low-saturated fat, high plant food diet can significantly reduce the risk of developing heart disease.
Many people fail to understand the importance of food choices, and gradually they develop the risk factors for coronary heart disease. A diet high in saturated fats is the major cause of coronary heart disease.
Saturated fats, a.k.a. ‘bad fats’, tend to increase LDL (‘bad’) cholesterol in the blood that causes coronary heart diseases. Most common sources of saturated fats include – processed foods (like pastries and biscuits) and animal products (like butter, meat fat including beef, lamb, chicken skin, lard, dripping, and palm oil).
That is why it is imperative to have a healthy diet to reduce your risk of heart disease!
