DeepMind replaces the Gemini app team at Google

Google, a division of Alphabet, announced on Thursday that the Gemini app team will relocate to DeepMind, its artificial intelligence research center. This move is part of the search engine giant’s efforts to reorganize and improve its standing in the competitive field of generative AI.

CEO Sundar Pichai stated in a blog post that the change “will improve feedback loops, enable fast deployment of our new models in the Gemini app.”

DeepMind created Gemini, Google’s most sophisticated artificial intelligence system. The most recent Gemini models can be accessed directly by users through the Gemini app.

The CEO of Google DeepMind, Demis Hassabis, will oversee the Gemini app team, which is headed by Sissie Hsiao.

Additionally, Google revealed that Prabhakar Raghavan, who has overseen the company’s search, advertising, and commerce businesses, will take on the role of chief technologist and collaborate closely with Pichai.

Nick Fox, a key collaborator with Google on its AI product roadmap, will assume Raghavan’s position as head of the Knowledge and Information team.
