Evroc Secures €50.6M to Build Next-Gen Cloud Data Centers

Evroc AB, a startup based in Sweden focused on cloud infrastructure, announced today that it has secured €50.6 million to expand its data center network.

blisce/, a venture capital firm with offices in the U.S. and Paris, led the Series B round. Also participating were Giant Ventures, EQT Ventures, and Norrsken VC.

Founded in 2023, Evroc aims to create an infrastructure-as-a-service platform that rivals the leading public clouds. The platform operates using data centers situated within the European Union. Consequently, it can accommodate workloads that need to be stored within the EU in order to adhere to the bloc’s data protection regulations.

Mattias Åström, founder and CEO of Evroc, stated, “We aim to build a secure, sovereign and sustainable cloud and AI platform for Europe, and thereby empowering the next generation of EU startups, fueling job creation and driving economic growth.”

Evroc states that its platform will be the cleanest cloud in the world once it is fully operational. To reach that aim, the company is implementing a number of measures.

The report states that Evroc’s platform will adopt a sustainability best practice known as eco load balancing. This entails transferring customer workloads to the data centers with the greatest accessibility to renewable energy. In order to further reduce their energy consumption, Everoc intends to construct some data centers in areas that offer “opportunities for natural cooling.”

To back artificial intelligence workloads, the company will outfit its facilities with graphics processing units. Evroc intends to provide serverless features for developers. Serverless computing is a cloud service model that automates hardware management for users and minimizes the amount of custom code they need to write.

Currently, Evroc offers cloud services from two co-location facilities located in Stockholm. With the funding round announced today, the company will construct additional data centers, beginning with an “AI factory” located north of Cannes, France. The facility is anticipated to go live later this year, with a capacity of up to 50,000 GPUs.

The anticipated data center is projected to consume as much as 96 megawatts of electricity. One megawatt equates to the electrical consumption of a few hundred homes. Later this year, Evroc aims to secure two additional data center locations in France, each with a capacity of over 100 megawatts.

In Arlandastad, Sweden, the company is constructing an AI data center that will accommodate up to 16,000 graphics cards. The facility is projected to start operations in the latter half of 2026. Evroc aspires to run eight data centers within the EU in the long run.

According to the report, the company will secure additional funding this year to support its infrastructure investments. The data center it’s constructing near Cannes is projected to cost up to €4 billion, while the Arlandastad facility is estimated at €600 million.
