A flood alert and a flood warning have been issued in Cheshire following a spell of persistent, heavy rain.
Those in Winsford will be influenced by the flood alert, with properties on Station Road expected to flood.
The alert was set up soon after 7.30am at the beginning of today (June 12) and affects the zone encompassing the River Weaver.
A warning issued by the flood information service said: “Prolonged rainfall over Cheshire has caused river levels to rise.
“Rain is expected to ease through Wednesday morning but river levels will continue to rise through the day.
“A further area of rain is expected to move in from the east this evening.
“Flooding to property on Station Road, Winsford is expected from around 9:30 a.m. We will continue to monitor the situation through the day and will issue further updates if required.”
A flood cautioning has likewise been set up in the Chester territory encompassing the River Dee .
The warning, which asks residents to be prepared, reads: “River levels are rising at the Farndon river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall.
“Consequently, flooding of low lying land, roads and farmland is possible from 2am tomorrow morning through to tomorrow evening, 12/06/19.
“We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads around the River Dee at Shocklach, Farndon, Handley, Lower Kinnerton, Chester and Puddington. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point.
“Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high for the coming days.
“We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue (further) flood alerts if necessary.”
A flood alert is additionally in power at the River Gowy catchment including territories around Frodsham.
