There are about twelve different voices available while using Google Assistant, but Gemini—the generative AI assistant that Google intends to likely replace Google Assistant—has only had one voice up to this point. It appears that this is currently changing.
It was found around a month ago that Google was developing a new voice setting for Gemini, albeit the feature wasn’t operational at the time. The choice of two voices was provided, and this is unrelated to the Assistant’s voice settings. However, it wasn’t immediately apparent that Gemini was the intended setting.
However, Gemini’s voice is beginning to change now. It had a male voice (you know, AI doesn’t have gender), but now it has a new voice that sounds more feminine. This modification doesn’t appear to be available worldwide just yet and may be part of a restricted test.
While not a major deal, this new version is undoubtedly a refinement that users should reasonably expect from digital assistants. It goes without saying that users will be able to select the voice that their digital assistants talk in, and as always say, more customization options are always a good thing.
You will thus be able to select the overall tone in which Gemini can communicate with you when this update becomes available to all users worldwide. In the future, hopefully, more voice selections will be offered.
