The all-electric GV60 will be the first Genesis model to receive the aggressive “Magma” upgrade. Genesis announced that a new era for the luxury carmaker would begin with the launch of the GV60 Magma EV, which will have performance and styling enhancements.
In 2021, Genesis introduced the GV60, their first car exclusively powered by electricity. After three years, the brand’s new Magma program is being led by the high-end electric SUV.
Global launch of the GV60 Magma idea took place in March at Genesis House in New York. “The brand’s expansion into the realm of high-performance vehicles” is how Genesis characterizes Magma.
Starting with the GV60, the company wants its Magma models to be “a high-end variant” for every model in its lineup.
Genesis enhanced the GV60 by adding a better motor and battery. For more dynamics, it adjusted the thermodynamics, profile, and chassis.
Because the GV60 Magma is larger and lower than the current model, it has a lower center of gravity and feels more sporty. A Magma-only sound system is also added by the company to provide a “auditory experience” while traveling.
Genesis Announces The Launch date of the GV60 Magma EV
There will be a new human-machine interface (HMI) available for Magma models. Genesis says that drivers can focus entirely on the road by displaying only the data and features that are absolutely necessary.
Three key characteristics—”Unspoken Dominance,” “Captivating Control,” and “Sharpened Immersion”—will be highlighted in every Magma vehicle.
Genesis announced that the GV60 Magma will go on sale as an electric vehicle in Korea and Europe the following year. It will “closely resemble the concept model,” according to Genesis. In Q3 2025, Genesis hopes to start production.
The 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed was the venue for the electric SUV’s world premiere on Thursday. It will be the first demonstration of a working Magma model.
Genesis will race the GV60 Magma Concept in the Shootout on Sunday to demonstrate its quickness and agility, marking another first for the luxury carmaker.
Other Genesis automobiles were also on display, such as the G80 EV Magma concept, which made its world premiere alongside the GV60 Magma. In April, Genesis debuted the G80 EV Magma concept, giving a sneak peek of their upcoming Tesla Model S Plaid rival.
On the second level, Genesis is showcasing its three current electric vehicles (EVs): the GV60, GV70, and GV80.
At Goodwood on Thursday, a number of further electric sports vehicles, such as the MG Cyber GTS, were presented. The Porsche 911 and MG’s latest hardtop electric sports vehicle are already being compared.
