German Firm ERC System Introduces eVTOL For Emergency Services

On July 4, 2024, ERC System, a German advanced air mobility startup that had previously operated in stealth mode, debuted an eVTOL aircraft tailored exclusively for the emergency market.

This aircraft can carry a payload of 450 kg and has a variety of characteristics designed specifically for use by emergency service operators. For example, it has a high wing layout and a huge back door to make it easier to load and offload wounded. The 5.2 m³ cabin accommodates doctors and caregivers.

ERC Systems, founded in 2019, is quite clear about its market positioning, saying that the aircraft is substantially faster than an ambulance while also being significantly less expensive to run than a traditional helicopter.

The Munich-based company, which has already built two full-scale demonstrations, has also received support from DRF Luftrettung, a prominent emergency services operator in Germany, as well as at least one regional administration in Bavaria, southern Germany.
