Google Messages Is Testing A New Feature To Let Users Access Gemini More Quickly

Google is presently testing a new feature that allows users to access Gemini, its large language model (LLM) chatbot, via the Google Messages app.

Instead of the present process of hitting the “Start chat” button and picking Gemini from the alternatives, the business is testing a dedicated button that will send users directly to the Gemini conversation screen, making the process more efficient.

According to Assemble Debug’s post for Android Authority, Google Messages now has a new Gemini fab, allowing users to initiate a discussion with the AI chatbot directly.

This new feature is expected to be added to the app version messages.android_20240610_01_RC00. The addition would add a Gemini logo button above the current “Start chat” button. By tapping this button, users can quickly access the Gemini discussion interface and provide their prompts.

Although the new Gemini button is not currently available to beta users, it is expected to be added to the app in the near future.
