There are other password manager services available, but unless you require something more advanced than simply saving passwords, you will most likely choose Google Password Manager.
And today, Google has excellent news for Password Manager users: they will finally have access to Family Sharing, a feature offered in most other dedicated password management programs.
“With this new feature, you can now securely share your passwords with your family group in Google Password Manager,” Google explained in its update papers. “When you share a password, your family members will receive a copy of it in their Google Password Manager, ready to be used.”
According to Android Authority and Engadget, Google first revealed the functionality in February of this year as part of its new digital wellbeing promise for children.
“Accounts that are part of a family group will soon have the option to share usernames and passwords for a particular website or service directly from Google Password Manager,” Google announced at the time. “Whether two members of a family are coordinating with daycare through a single account, or a child is letting a parent access their school assignments, sharing passwords securely has never been easier.”
How To Share Passwords With Google Password Manager
To begin, users must create a family group at g.co/YourFamily if they have not previously done so. To allow password sharing with someone, you must first add them as a member of your family group.
After you’ve formed your family group, you should see a “share” button in Google Password Manager that allows you to share passwords with other members of your family group.
The capability is now accessible on Google Password Manager for mobile devices. However, it does not appear to have been rolled out to everyone using Google Chrome for desktop just yet.
