Google Vids, a service within Google Workspace that is quite recent, employs AI and Gemini to generate videos and presentations from the ground up. Its aim is to serve as a more practical option compared to other video-generation tools, focusing on work and school uses like presentations, slideshows, and various content delivery methods. This week, Google announced the expansion of Vids’ AI capabilities to include voiceover generation.
Once a video was made using Google Vids, the “Help me Create” feature allowed for an AI-generated voiceover script. The most recent update advances the process by employing AI to narrate the script that was generated earlier. Google identifies the following advantages of utilizing Help me Create for AI voiceovers:
- Remove the need for manual recording of “the perfect take.”
- “Easily access a diverse range of voiceovers that offer you video narration with a professional sound”
- “Using automatic audio-to-scene alignment saves you time when matching voiceovers to scenes in your video.”
Once you have produced a sample script and AI voiceover, editing them is simple, meaning you are not confined to a single generation. Various tone and pitch options, along with unique voices, are available for selection. Help me Create will only display the script and voiceover options after you open or create a Google Vids project.
This feature can only be accessed by paid customers on the following Google Workspace plans:
- Business Standard and Plus
- Enterprise Standard and Plus
- Essentials, Enterprise Essentials and Enterprise Essentials Plus
- Education Plus
- Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education or Education Premium add-ons
Voiceovers generated by AI are currently being introduced in Google Vids. However, it may take up to 15 days from the feature’s launch date (March 20) for this functionality to be accessible to all users.
