Honda has launched its e:N1 model from its plant in Prachinburi’s Rojana Industrial Park, allegedly making it the first Japanese automaker to manufacture electric vehicles (EVs) in Thailand. Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co Ltd verified this development.
Honda’s confidence in Thailand’s automotive industry is demonstrated by the production of the e:N1, an electric SUV that is anticipated to boost employment and the industry’s growth through the use of local parts. In the first quarter of the following year, the Honda e:N1’s market launch details are expected to be revealed.
Honda is introducing the e:N1 alongside conventional internal combustion engine vehicles and the e:HEV hybrid system, with the goal of providing Thai car buyers with a wider range of options. In addition, the company is striving to meet its 2030 target of manufacturing two million or more battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) worldwide.
The e:N1 is likened to Honda’s HR-V, a high-end sport SUV that lacks an engine. The new electric vehicle is anticipated to cost more than 1.5 million baht before any government subsidies are applied.
