Hyundai Motor Company has officially launched its subcompact Inster electric vehicle (EV). The Hyundai Inter will make its debut in the South Korean automotive market. Later, it will be offered in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
Hyundai introduced its all-electric Inster EV at the 2024 Busan International Mobility Show. The new A-segment subcompact EV has rapid charging and a range of up to 355 kilometers depending on Europe’s WLTP standard.
Hyundai has fitted the Inster’s cockpit with a 10.25-inch digital dashboard, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, and a wireless charging port.
The Hyundai Inster’s exterior design is based on the gasoline-powered CASPER, which was exclusively available in South Korea. However, the Hyundai Inster has a longer body and wheelbase, allowing for more inside room. Given the places where the Inster will launch, its size is ideal for city driving and parking.
“With Inster, we’ve taken the small SUV image to a bold new place for the global audience,” said Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President and Head of the Hyundai Design Center. “Inster punches well above its weight with distinctive design and an interior that maximizes its potential in exciting, customer-centric ways. With INSTER, we’re redefining what it means to drive a sub-compact EV.”
According to Hyundai, the Inster would include the majority of equipment and technologies as standard. The company will also provide some improved “convenience and design features” in the future. The carmaker will release details for the Inster closer to its launch.
Hyundai did not disclose any information about Inster variants, with the exception of the Inster Cross, which is expected to have a more rugged design.
