Flight delays often disappoint passengers and cost billions of dollars airlines annually. These delays give rise to long passenger lines and widespread chaos at airports worldwide.
The Jerusalem-based startup intellect established in 2017 has developed an AI software platform that can potentially reduce flight delays by 50%. The technology provides a solution to integrate your video analytics software with the IT system of the airport through CCTV cameras. Software also increases passenger experience and reduces carbon emissions, making it a win solution for airlines, travelers, airports and environment.
Intellact founder and CEO Udi Segal explained how the intellect’s AI-powered software reduces uncertainties related to flight operations.
Segal said, “Passengers are often requested to visit the airport three hours earlier, but they are not sure whether their flight will leave on time or not.” “Our promise is removing the chaotic aspect, removing the level of uncertainty and providing airports and airlines with a reliable and future environment to reduce the delay.”
Segal estimates that each delayed minute cost airlines more than $ 110.
“A holiday season is not surprising because it is recurring,” he continued. “Over time, as our system collects and collects historical data and information, it fuses advanced machine learning and video analysis algorithms to identify recurring delays and security risks, so there is no reason to be surprised.”
“We can see the pattern about how much time it takes to go into an aircraft during periods in which more families are traveling with children, which during the regular season to allow for more effective scheduling during holiday season vs. trading passengers,” Segal explained.
They believe that flight delay is mainly due to “turnaround management, which is how soon airlines and ground staff can prepare an uproar for an outgoing.”
“This is the hot potato, meaning airlines’ operational efficiency which includes a web of tasks from cleaning the plane, loading and unloading cargo, boarding and deboarding passengers, refueling, to restocking supplies – this is where the visibility of ground handling and airline teams are limited,” Segall assessed.
During an interview with The Times of Israel, he described the system as a monitoring tool that tracks every stage of the process using CCTV cameras of the airport. It analyzes data to provide actionable insights and recommendations, helping to customize the turnaround time of the airplane.
He said, “It acts like a healthcare app, which can make recommendations about what to do to shape you by monitoring your daily tricks.” “In this way, the system helps employees of the airline and airport to make better prediction of whether the flight is going to leave on time, and allows them to improve scheduling.”
Israeli’s leading airline, L Al Al, who has invested in the startup, has organized a pilot program using the AI platform at the Ben-Gurian International Airport in Israel. Segal described the program as a success.
The AI-platform of Intellact can possibly become a game-changer for airports worldwide, especially during the extreme travel period with high passenger versions.
