Meta services (META) is making significant enhancements to WhatsApp video calls, which could make the messaging app a viable alternative to existing video conferencing services.
According to the company’s blog post, WhatsApp will now have a “speaker spotlight” function that will automatically highlight the person who is now speaking and make them appear on the screen first.
Another option is “screen sharing with audio,” which allows users to share audio alongside their screen.
Furthermore, WhatsApp users can now join up to 32 people on a video call across all platforms.
According to The Verge, the messaging platform’s video calls were previously limited to 16 people on the Windows app and eight people on the Mac client.
The tech giant’s blog post also emphasized the company’s continued commitment to improving the quality of audio and video calls on WhatsApp.
According to the corporation, the new improvements would be released “over the next few weeks”.
