Microsoft plans to integrate AI capabilities into Notepad and Paint

Even after all these years, Notepad and Paint still demonstrate their importance as essential components of the Windows operating system. With the help of both, users can quickly and easily develop new material without adding to the system’s complexity. It may be as simple as making a new image or writing a brief note about something, or it could be as complex as converting an image to a different format. Users have always found these apps to be helpful.

Numerous significant changes have been made to Windows as it moves forward, which has enhanced these applications. Complete rewrites, redesigned user interfaces, and inclusion in the Microsoft store allow them to be updated without requiring a reboot or Windows Update. However, Microsoft is planning considerably more significant modifications that will fundamentally alter how we utilize both of them.

Both will use AI, giving users the ability to add, edit, and remove content. Users will be able to mark text in Notepad and utilize a new feature called “Rewrite,” which functions similarly to Grammarly or ChatGPT and provides alternate options for the material. Both generative fill and erase capabilities will be available to users, elevating Paint to a whole new level. making it far more than a basic sketching and painting program.

These are some really exciting improvements that will put some pressure on Adobe and other well-known companies. Paint will never be able to completely replace Photoshop, of course, but it may reduce the necessity for such programs for basic AI-driven activities.

Users who join in Windows Insider preview builds can currently access the functions, but Co-Pilot Plus PC models and everyone else (clearly limited to Windows 11) will soon be able to use them as well.
