Momentum Accelerator’s National Security & Dual-Use Technology Cohort, which is being hosted by UQ Ventures in collaboration with Salus Ventures, is currently accepting applications.
Starting in April, the 12-week program is designed especially for companies working in the defense and national security technology industries. The program offers these companies a substantial platform to grow while meeting critical industry demands.
Applications are especially encouraged from startups operating in fields like AI & Data, Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity, Aerospace, and Digital Health. To be eligible for this opportunity, potential participants must have proven their market validity.
The program aims to give participants the fundamental knowledge, tools, and contacts they need to successfully negotiate the intricate dual-use and national security domains. It provides access to investment opportunities, specialized mentorship, exclusive introductions to industry networks, and knowledgeable perspectives from an Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) and thought leaders.
The position of EiR will be filled by Vu Tran, a co-founder of Go1 and Black Sky Industries. His experience in creating aircraft and propulsion technology should be very advantageous to the participating startups.
Salus Ventures Co-Founder and Partner Marten Peck emphasized the importance of the partnership. “Queensland is emerging as a leading hub for deep tech and dual-use innovation, with an expanding and vibrant community coming together to create an ideal environment for founders in these sectors,” he stated.
Dan Bennett, a partner and co-founder of Salus Ventures, said he was excited about the collaboration. “We’re delighted to partner with UQ on the Momentum Accelerator for National Security and Dual-Use Technology and look forward to sharing our unique capabilities and access to our community to help accelerate the growth of the participating cohort,” he said.
UQ’s Head of Entrepreneurship, Nimrod Klayman, highlighted the program’s potential advantages. He continued, “Momentum has helped some of Queensland’s most promising startups scale, and we’re thrilled to extend this opportunity to founders innovating in national security and dual-use technology.”
Additionally, it is anticipated that the collaboration with Salus Ventures would provide participants with access to crucial funds and industry connections in addition to sector knowledge. “Participants will receive access to finance and vital industry connections in addition to in-depth sector insights thanks to our partnership with Salus Ventures. I appreciate QIC for facilitating this partnership and am excited about what UQ Ventures and Salus Ventures may accomplish in tandem,” Klayman continued.
For the chosen firms, the program offers an investment opportunity of up to USD $400,000 from Salus Ventures, subject to certain conditions being fulfilled.
The Accelerator is accepting applications through April 4, 2025. To take advantage of this chance to advance the dual-use technology and national security sectors, interested companies are urged to apply as soon as possible.
