Prime day is an annual sale event launched by Amazon, the largest online retailer. Last week the event was for 2 days 15th and 16th July. As expected the sale was a big success in, the US, the UK, and Australia. Discount was offered on categories, including gaming hardware and gadgets and prime members took advantage of this offers as the event attracted over 2 million more transactions than Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. This year the Amazon prime Day sales were high compared to previous years and now is considered as best sale event in the US.
Discount offer days like Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now Amazon Prime day are the days were electronic goods sales soar too high. Usually the gamers this time were looking out for specific deal on Nintendo products. According to the data released “Nintendo Switch” was the most searched product on Amazon leaving behind “Instant Pot”. Instant Pot is still one of the most search product on Amazon. It is the 3rd generation programmable pressure cooker which is quite famous. This data was released by a leading online competitive intelligence company “Hitwise”.
According to the data released there were over 1.9 million searches on US amazon and over 1.13 million searches on UK amazon. In US Amazon apart from “Nintendo Switch”, “TV” and “Headphones” were the search terms that too were in the race and finished with 1.81 million and 1.3 million. This was actually less compared to last year’s Prime Day.
Now the most interesting fact here to notice was that, though “Nintendo Switch” was the most searched product on Amazon during Prime Day, it was not the best-selling product. Surprisingly, the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote were the best-selling products on Prime Day 2019 with 638,500 and 334,800 units sold. Following the same trend UK Amazon showed similar best-selling products. FireTV Stick 4K Ultra HD and Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote recorded 58,600 and 41,600 online purchases respectively. Another notable player was also in the race and came in fifth with 14,500 purchases was “Sony Playstation Classic Console”.
Though Nintendo Switch might have performed well in terms of searches but Fire Sticks performed outstandingly in terms of sales. This was due to the fact the new Nintendo Lite was trending and the Fire Sticks are more popular among the Android gamers and the prime day discounts acted as the cherry on the top which eventually made it the best-selling product on Amazon Prime this year.
