The first update for the Google TV Streamer has been released by Google, more than a month after the device’s release.
The Google TV Streamer set-top box comes with the August 2024 security patch (build number UTT3.240625.001.K5) and is running Android TV OS 14, the first device to do so. The 35.35 MB initial update for Google TV Streamer, with version number UTT3.240625.001.K9, is currently being distributed.
This new version has not yet been submitted to Google’s changelog.
Strangely, there aren’t any major modifications to the Streamer or a new security patch included in this version. Users who have taken the update have not reported any notable fixes, and Google’s changelog only lists “bug fixes and performance improvements.”
The August 2024 security patch that Google TV Streamer is still using is older than the September patch that Chromecast with Google TV got in October. However, another upgrade ought to be forthcoming in the coming weeks if the Streamer adheres to the same update schedule as the Chromecast.
Even though the update was just 35 MB in size, it took a long time to install on Streamer because it required two steps and a reboot.
