The Truth about Accomplishments and Confidence

If you’re like most people, then you’re of the opinion that some people are ‘born’ with confidence. I don’t think that’s true. People with ‘natural’ confidence are those that never lost the unlimited confidence we are born with, or disciplined their minds to regain it.
You may not believe it right now, but you were born with abundant confidence. This confidence I’m talking of is the inner assurance a person gets that they can conquer any task in front of them. This feeling was with everyone as a baby; a lot of people lost it while others nurtured in. If you’re still in doubt of this, allow me to dive in further.
Like everyone else, you had no innate skill when you were born as a baby. You couldn’t even perform the fundamental task of walking. However, this did not stop your dedication to learning the craft –walking. You spent all day learning it and nothing else. Your brain was working the hardest it ever had, your mind was pushing you to new lengths, and you didn’t even know this.
Most importantly, you just had the absolute confidence to keep trying, no matter how many times you didn’t succeed.
You began to achieve this in stages. It started with you turning on your belly and practicing raising up your head. Once you achieved this small milestone, you move up to the next task of building strength in your arms and legs.
At this early stage in your life, quitting was never an option. Your brain absolutely convinced you that the task was achievable and you acted accordingly. You had ALL the confidence you needed to go out and conquer the world. Your mind already understood that all it took was a step at a time, and you could achieve whatever seemed impossible. You probably fell over a thousand times and didn’t stop practicing.
If not giving up after falling thousands of times it not the “ULTIMATE confidence”, then I don’t know what is.
It’s sad that after this stage in our lives, most of us lost this confidence. We probably lost it because of society telling us that failure is a bad thing and should be avoided at every cost.
Kids mostly lose their natural confidence within the ages of 5 and 7 and begin to second-doubt their abilities to achieve the tasks that nature throws at them. Those you refer to as ‘people born with confidence’ are those that never lost it at this crucial point in their growth.
You’ve lost your natural fearlessness, and now you want to regain it, what steps are you to follow? How long is it going to take? You have nothing to worry about. Just like when you were a baby, all it takes is one step at a time.
What you need to remember at all times is that all accomplishments are foundations for the next one. Past achievements serve as a source of inspiration to achieve new tasks.
With the confidence you get from accomplishing a task in front of you, you can ease into the next one knowing that you’re well-equipped to conquer anything you put your mind to.
So how do you go about your quest to regain this confidence? Simple hard work and sweat, maybe even tears. However, you need to keep reminding yourself that it’s all going to be worth it in the end.
