Updates for Google TV on the New Chromecast are being Released Ahead of Streamers

The Google TV Streamer is a dramatic change, and the next Chromecast with Google TV upgrade (June 2024) is coming soon.

Updates for the Chromecast with Google TV to STTL.240508.005 (from STTE.240315.002) raise the Android security patch level to June 2024 (from April 2024). The changelog has not yet updated to reflect it.

The version that was released today, which is 71.94 MB in size, mentions “Other bug fixes and performance improvements.”

Google has already surpassed the 2023 cadence, which is January, April, May, July, October, and December, with this being the fifth Chromecast with Google TV upgrade in eight months (February, March, April, May, and August).

The Audio output switcher in Quick Settings and Fast Pair were introduced in the first update of the year. The much anticipated “Home runtime” upgrade will let the Chromecast with Google TV to function as a hub for Matter devices. Officially, it will launch later in the year.
