Facebook recently announced that Messenger’s video call feature will include multiplayer games. This functionality permits you to banter with loved ones as you kick their goods in 14 currently-available titles.
Messenger for iOS, Android, and the web all offer the video call gaming feature without requiring any specialized installation. Old favorites like Words with Friends and Mini Golf FRVR, as well as newer titles like Card Wars and Exploding Kittens, are among the 14 games shown off at launch. Although each game has a different maximum player numbers, it is intended to be played by as few as two people.
Each game is streamlined for the service, with clearly-demarcated leader boards, and a UI that leverages the Messenger experience. You should simply begin a video call on Messenger, tap the group mode button, tap the “Play” icon, and afterward peruse the library of available games. Since the company has been experimenting with Messenger-enabled games for the past few years, nothing has really stuck, so one hopes that this new mode has some staying power.
Facebook Gaming claims that additional free games will be available later this year, despite the relatively small launch lineup of 14 titles. To that end, the company is encouraging developers who are interested in adding games to the platform to get in touch with their Partner Manager for more information. This information comes just a few months after Meta discontinued the Facebook Gaming app on its own.
